Whatever your interests or the season, this area hosts a variety of festivals and special events throughout the year. Some of these include the Grandfather Mountain Highland Games, an Appalachian Summer Festival, Sugar Mountain Oktoberfest, Valle Country Fair, the Woolly Worm Festival, Blowing Rock Art in the Park, the Blowing Rock Charity Horse Show, and Savor! This historic outdoor drama tells the tale of the adventures of Daniel Boone in the High Country and the role that local pioneers played in winning the American Revolution. At the site, you can also tour the Hickory Ridge Living History Museum, a collection of 18th and 19th century log cabins, and the Daniel Boone Native Gardens which showcases the flora of the region. |
